De l\u00e0, nous parcourons +\/- 30 km \u00e0 v\u00e9lo jusqu&rsquo;au port <em>Rotterdam Ferry<\/em> et embarquons dans la soir\u00e9e en direction de <em>Hull<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Way of the Roses<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le lendemain matin \u00e0 7h30 (heure RU), notre voyage \u00e0 v\u00e9lo peut vraiment commencer. Apr\u00e8s une heure de v\u00e9lo, nous laissons derri\u00e8re nous la sombre banlieue de <em>Hull.<\/em> Le plan est de se connecter \u00e0 la route <em>Way of the Roses<\/em> et d\u2019arriver \u00e0 <em>York<\/em> dans la soir\u00e9e. Un trajet assez long, mais aussi plat (88km). D\u2019 <em>York<\/em>, on se dirige ensuite vers <em>Pateley Bridge<\/em>. Nous roulons sur des routes \u00e9troites dans un paysage de prairies, de haies et de murailles de pierres. La 2\u00e8me partie du trajet apr\u00e8s <em>Ripon<\/em> (avec sa belle cath\u00e9drale) est assez difficile avec quelques mont\u00e9es bien raides. Un trajet de 78km.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><style>\/*! elementor - v3.15.0 - 20-08-2023 *\/&amp;lt;br \/> .elementor-widget-image{text-align:center}.elementor-widget-image a{display:inline-block}.elementor-widget-image a img[src$=\".svg\"]{width:48px}.elementor-widget-image img{vertical-align:middle;display:inline-block}<\/style>&#13;\n&#13;\nLe lendemain, on va de <em>Pateley Bridge<\/em> \u00e0 <em>Settle<\/em>, \u00e0 travers les <em>Yorkshire Dales<\/em>. Nous sommes maintenant au c\u0153ur des <em>Pennines<\/em>, les collines qui traversent le Royaume-Uni du nord au sud. Les mont\u00e9es se succ\u00e8dent rapidement et sont raides. Chaque effort est r\u00e9compens\u00e9 par une vue magnifique suivie d\u2019une descente abrupte. Nos v\u00e9los sont vraiment test\u00e9s. Ici aussi, nous roulons sur des routes calmes et \u00e9troites, mais cette fois dans le brouillard et la bruine. Un trajet de 45km.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De <em>Settle<\/em> nous p\u00e9dalons vers <em>Lancastre<\/em>. La premi\u00e8re partie de ce trajet est \u00e0 nouveau tr\u00e8s difficile, mais les dieux de la m\u00e9t\u00e9o sont avec nous cette fois. Nous traversons la for\u00eat de <em>Bowland <\/em>le long de routes \u00e9troites et tranquilles avec de nombreuses prairies verdoyantes, des moutons, de petits bosquets et des murailles de pierres. Nous laissons les <em>Pennines<\/em> derri\u00e8re nous et roulons vers Lancaster le long des rives de la rivi\u00e8re <em>Lune<\/em>. Enfin plat \u00e0 nouveau. De Lancaster, on va \u00e0 <em>Morecambe <\/em>sur la mer d\u2019Irlande, le terminus du <em>Way of the Roses<\/em>. On d\u00e9cide de parcourir quelques kilom\u00e8tres de plus le long de la c\u00f4te de la baie de <em>Morecambe<\/em> jusqu\u2019\u00e0 <em>Bolton-Le-Sands<\/em>. Nous n\u2019en avons vraiment pas envie et d\u00e9cidons de prendre un jour de repos. Le lendemain, le soleil est de nouveau l\u00e0, et nous faisons le tour de la baie de <em>Morecombe<\/em> par le <em>Bay Cycle Way<\/em>. Cette randonn\u00e9e est \u00e9galement assez vallonn\u00e9e. De belles vues sont notre partie : vers l\u2019ouest sur la baie et vers l\u2019est sur le district des <em>Pennines-Lake disitrict<\/em>. Oh oui il a beaucoup plu la veille : \u00e0 plusieurs occasions nous roulons dans des rues inond\u00e9es. De <em>Barrow<\/em>, nous prenons le train vers le nord en direction de notre prochain parcours cyclable, <em>Hadrians Wall Cycle Way<\/em>. Ce n\u2019\u00e9tait pas le plan initial. Le jour de repos forc\u00e9 d\u2019il y a 2 jours et le fait de savoir que nous devons traverser \u00e0 nouveau les <em>Pennines<\/em> cette fois d\u2019ouest en est, nous font d\u00e9cider de prendre une marge suppl\u00e9mentaire. Apr\u00e8s tout, le voyage de retour en ferry est r\u00e9serv\u00e9. Nous remontons \u00e0<em> MaryPort<\/em>, une ville c\u00f4ti\u00e8re plus au nord sur la mer d\u2019Irlande. De l\u00e0, nous p\u00e9dalons plus au nord le long de la c\u00f4te jusqu\u2019\u00e0 <em>Silloth<\/em>. La vue sur la c\u00f4te de <em>Solway<\/em> rappelle un estuaire, avec beaucoup de faune et de flore marines. De l\u00e0, on va vers <em>Carlisle<\/em>, le v\u00e9ritable d\u00e9but du mur d\u2019Hadrien. Apr\u00e8s <em>Carlisle<\/em>, l\u2019escalade recommence \u00e0 l\u2019approche de la partie nord des <em>Pennines<\/em>. Enfin, nous atterrissons \u00e0 <em>Banks<\/em> apr\u00e8s un voyage de 92km.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pendant la nuit un vent tr\u00e8s fort se l\u00e8ve et en plus il tourne. Donc, nous avons un vent d\u2019est de face. Heureusement, il y a beaucoup de sites romains int\u00e9ressants \u00e0 visiter. Ils sont un r\u00e9pit bienvenu entre grimper et lutter contre le vent. Les vues sont bien impressionnantes : terrain vallonn\u00e9 sauvage et parfois un vestige du mur. Nous d\u00e9cidons donc de rouler d\u2019<em>Once Brewed<\/em> \u00e0 <em>Newcastle<\/em> sans plus visiter des sites romains. La premi\u00e8re partie du voyage est difficile avec les collines escarp\u00e9es d\u00e9sormais famili\u00e8res et de belles vues. Mais apr\u00e8s midi, il y a une longue descente spectaculaire vers la rivi\u00e8re <em>The Tyne<\/em>. En passant par les rives de la <em>Tyne<\/em>, nous atteignons <em>Newcastle,<\/em> ce qui est une approche jolie avec les nombreux ponts. Un trajet de 70km.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apr\u00e8s une journ\u00e9e et demie de d\u00e9tente \u00e0 <em>Newcastle<\/em>, nous p\u00e9dalons vers le port de ferry \u00e0 environ 20 km \u00e0 l\u2019est.
